Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I see that you are 57. I'm 76 and these feelings come in waves for me. Aging sucks. Being sick sucks. Having narcissistic family sucks. Put it all together and it can be overwhelming. I get it! I am all alone with two autoimmune diseases and chronic back pain.
Sometimes I have a pity party. Sometimes I pick myself and get out of the house and do something.
For a long time I was thankful for friends. Now they seem to be more hurtful than helpful. We have to set healthy boundaries and limit our contact wiht toxic people, but then it just seems to leave you more alone! I journal sometimes to get my feelings out. Or pay a therapist to listen to me bitch...or come here and vent.
So . . . just to say, you are not alone. The world can be a cruel, difficult place. Oh, one other things I've learned is that expectations are often the root of our disappointment. We "expect" people to act as we would an dbe kind and caring. But they don't and thne we are crushed. better to lower expectations.
