Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I'm here if you need someone to talk to.
Take care.
I'm available to talk, if you need some distraction.
Please do remember, though, that depression distorts our thinking and does make things bleaker than they actually are.
Gentle hugs-----
When we get very depressed, we tend to isolate ourselves, which makes it worse. We lose touch with others and feel all the more alone.
Have you heard of depression being called the black dogs? Good name. They do like coyotes do they draw you away from your safety zone before they attack, because they know they will out number you and be able to take you down.
If you can see that, you know what you need to do....get around somebody. Anybody, the more confidants the better. We need others at this time to help us fight off the black dogs.
I also put a spiritual spin on it. I liken the black dogs to evil and how evil wants my spirit. Good wants me to live and thrive. Evil works really hard at condemning us, hence our derogatory comments about ourselves.
You must fight back. All the stuff about, it's always has been shitty, it always will be shitty, nothing ever works is DISTORTED perception due to depression. If you believe it, repeat it you give it life and power to further harm you.
Like a fire we need to starve it of oxygen so it can't burn us. Don't fuel the fire. Get help, don't let it win. This is a battle of thoughts.
Deep down you know what baby steps you can do to get well. Start there. One small change - confide in one person to start, then another get a few people on your corner. Please.
