Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I'm sorry you feel like this....that's gotta be unsettling.
A lot of folks have come and gone...some just have new names...
Why are you still here? why not? I'm feeling TONS better than I was when I first got here....but I still come because this place makes me feel good and positive, usually--which is helpful in order to CONTINUE to feel good. ....and if it doesn't, I take a break for a day or two or 6.
And on days that suck...I can come here and let stuff out, and get support.
well anyway, nice to see you, hope you have peace.
I would not be too hard on yourself .. you are still very young. You are at an age where people ask themselves 'what am I doing? What do I want to do? What should I want to do?" It is actually pretty normal.
I will be 64 very soon. I am amazed at what all I have done in life .. without even trying very hard. I have not had it easy, but it has been terrific ... would not trade it for anything. There have been terrible tragedies but there have been wonderful events too. Overall, it has been GREAT.
I do not know what 'charms your mind', .. maybe military service, or traveling, or learning several languages and working abroad, or raising a family. The possibilities are endless .. and if you don't know now, you will. You might even think of something and change your mind along the way. Or try this and something else comes from that which you did not even think of. That is what is exciting about being young .. you have a huge future with a lot of events waiting for you.
As a young person, a good education will give you a greater future. You might want to concentrate on that for now. You could get into medicine, law, politics, fashion design, photography .. I could not begin to name all the great things you can have and do.
Dream about all kinds of things. Imagine this and imagine that. Try different things. Learn why an airplane can fly or how a lawn mower engine works. It is all out there, .. radiology, astrology, metallurgy .. it is endless.
Dream and imagine . .. and inquire. You will motivate and pursue and have many successes and some failures. It will be exciting.
ironically its my 1st day here. so regarding this site i'm a full on noob.
People move on from stuff in life, in all sorts of good and bad directions. It's as nautural as it gets.
i think that kind of question is only effectively answered by yourself, and requires a direct soul-searching.
I don't think anything is wrong with you for not being a part of the general trend of moving on. I think it's a matter of personality. Some people like to stick to / stay with things longer than others. Is it something bad like a crutch? I dont know. But whats so damn wrong with a crutch anyway? If one has real clinical depression= your brain chemicals are imbalaced, then i feel that the least you can do is be good to yourself in allowing yourself to not worry about staying in somethin that you feel helps you, regardless if it might be holding you back in some way.
I think if one is one of those really healthy types, then ok they can try to achieve perfection in every little part of their lives and spend energy trying to "grow" and all that. But i, for 1, am not near that emotionally healthy, so I'm not gonna worry about such things. Its like a person struggling to walk trying to shave off split seconds on their 100m sprint time.
What's most important and healthy for me at this point in my journey, is to simply try to complete the 100 meters, then congratulate myself for the feat.
