Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

The only reason I'm skeptical about the term is, being around positive maybe even manic people hasn't rubbed off much for my depression so that's where I draw the line on the empathy industry. I think it is really being sensitive and some have it more than others...if everyone had the same level this world wouldn't be as bad on a whole.
I guess being around your son while being sensitive doesn't help much but maybe try throwing in some light suggestions of gratitude in there and see if things can change.
You do have a point though and I hope things improve being around your son. I've met people that claimed empath and they are nice but they also steered clear of helping others when the person was trying but couldn't get overly positive...I guess that's why I find the term more of an excuse. Again, not saying that's your case one bit!
