Does anyone have experience with Effexor? I recently had a medication increase. With the lower dose, I didn't have any side effects. With the new dose, I'm dizzy, can't concentrate to function, and I feel sick. Does it get better? Does it get worse? I've been through a lot in the past 4 months, and today, it's just driving me nuts not to be able to function. Help...

Hey lost girl I started Effexor 3 months ago I'm on 75mg I'm not sure I like it my moods are ok but I'm always tired and I yawn a lot which ive never done before I got my doctor to add Wellbutrin 150 mg I was thinking that would counter act some of the negative side effects and also the sexual disfunction has gotten better maybe because of the Wellbutrin .have you gained weight on it ?I think I have Sully

Nope, no weight gain. I was on 75 mg for months, and that was A-Ok. Now, I'm on 150 mg, and that apparently brought out all the side effects. If anything, with just the Effexor, I've lost weight, and with the new dose, I have no appetite. I just notice when I'm hungry because I feel weaker. Not so great... I'm glad the Wellbutrin helped counteract the side effects for you.

Does the Effexor help your moods maybe you just need time to get used to the higher dose I'm having a hard time finding any meds to help what works for most people does the opposite for me

I think so, but with the dizziness, it's hard to tell.

I had neurotransmitter testing done before deciding on Effexor with my psychiatrist. She found I was low in norepinephrine, and SNRIs, not SSRIs, help with that. So, that helped with deciding what to try. If you haven't had testing done, it may help figure out which direction may help. Your doctor or psychiatrist should be able to order the tests and share the results with you.

I'm on 300mg of the generic of Effexor. Before that 300mg of Effexor. I have never had any side effects. Though I can tell you coming of the stuff cold turkey is horrible and should be avoided at all cost. Trust me, I've been there.

Thanks, LadyDuo. I'm hoping what I'm experiencing eases up as I go. Definitely not going off it cold turkey.
