Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I love my partner, I can't imagine life without him. He deals with Boarderline Personality Disorder, Depression, Anxiety and a bit of OCD thrown in for good measure. I'd say about 70% of the time things are great but it's the other 30% that makes it hard. I feel I'm not allowed to get mad at him. If I do, he gets more upset and then the depression gets worse. So, when he acts like a jerk and tries to push me away which people with BPD do, I have to just take it. Well, it becomes a lot to handle and then I find I start getting upset and depressed as well.
He can be an amazing guy, and I know every relationship takes work. I just feel that I give and give and don't always get anything back and that can be really hard on someone.
I started my own business and he was having real problems at his job so he's basically started working with me in an industry he knows very little about. I'm ok with that, I can teach him. But today he was in a real bad mood and starting bitching at some of the staff which I had to follow behind and apologize for. Then I was happy because we got a mention in the newspaper and he basically pissed all over my parade. I blew up at him, told him to F off and I went for a walk to calm down. I needed to leave, because I know if I stayed I would have said things you can't take back. Then I get messages from him telling me I must want to break up (we've been together 3+ years and I have no intention of breaking up). He also made veil suggestions about pushing him over the edge. He tried to commit suicide a few months back and that worry is always in the back of my mind. He/we have a son, his son from a previous marriage who I now consider my own. I can't understand how he would leave him/us alone.
I know his illness is at the route of so many of his problems, but it's just so hard to deal with it all sometimes.
Thank you for listening.
