Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I just came from scratching my cat behind his ears for...an hour!? Even cats get depressed, I read on the internet, especially when they are sick.
(Me taking a chance with virusy shared computer down the hall where I live; I really should be grateful for that, and other things to help me get through this.)
I don't know how you cope with the isolation though. I do hope there are social spaces/things to do where you live and you aren't just stuck in that flat alone. Going to the library sounds good.
in my olde age of 58 to try to find positives...if only at 18 I had done that.
unfortunately, I got used to isolation at an early age, and learned too late that maladaptive daydreaming was part of it.
The other day I was thinking of adopting a dog. I myself, feel isolated from family and friends. Though I'm stating to open up more, I figured a dog at this moment would be the best thing for me. I recently started having severe anxiety and panic attacks. And I'm easing up and getting better now but it isn't the easiest process of recovery.
I started going to this big, beautiful park around my place and I always see people jogging with their dogs and I keep thinking to myself "I need me a dog." But I'm afraid of starting a new full-time job and committing to new hobbies and then not having time for it. I also started thinking what if I fall in love with the dog as if it were my own child and something happens to him/her? I've been subject to a lot of deaths/breaks ups in my life. Close family and friends. I'm afraid to trust or love somebody again but I know I have to. It's a apart of life. So I do understand what you're going through. I hope you know that this isn't your fault and this is apart of life and as you see, we all go through It.
Hope this helps!
the good thing about a cat is that they are easier to take care of, and are more ok with staying indoors than a dog.
take care.
