Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Been thinking about this a lot lately. How do you do that when you know you are going to have physical problems, get sick, decline, etc. It's one thing when you are young to face this world on your own but when you are old? wow, scary stuff. Most people i know have kids and grandkids and i don't think they have a clue what it's like to be a woman in your 50's with no kids, no husband, really shitty unsupportive siblings, no money, no house, health problems... I feel really alone and scared. I know how cruel and indifferent the world can be. Thanks for listening. and yea, it's depressing as hell. I feel like my life is just walking the plank. The future looks like a disaster to me. So it's really hard to keep pushing forward each day when you think/know it's just going to get worse. I'm really scared.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

What do you think about living in a 55+ community? I visited a relative in one of these neighborhood and there are some pros and cons, like everything else. The cons: You get nosy neighbors. Old people tend to not have much to do in their day and you'll see them sitting outside on the porch, just staring at your house. They also like to talk and gossip, so you always feel like you need to be perfect. I guess that's what idle people do. The pros: Those nosy neighbors will also be the ones to help you if something bad happen to you. The community is usually quite close, they encourage activities and interactions so that you won't be alone all the time and of course, make new friends.
Also, I think it would be good if you could join some sort of Meetup groups in your area. It helps to know people, and you might just find people who can expand your options too. Making new friends/acquaintances is not a bad idea either.
