Watching tv, but mind just wonders. I`m tired but i don`t want to go to sleep, i find that`s when I`m vulnerable the most.

Maybe try listening to some soft music while you try to fall asleep.. to distract your mind?

and believe it or not counting sheep really does work. The left side of the brain is engaged creating the images of the sheep, while the right half is engaged counting them. This helps calm the brain and drown out that static and anxiety that can keep us from sleeping.

I was just searching the internet for sleepless and depression and somehow was directed here. I saw your post and decided to join this group. I do not want to go to sleep either, I never do and that is the problem. I have no advise for you but I am glad you posted so maybe I can get some help on the topic too. Anxiety is what keeps my mind down and my body up. I wish they made teddy bears for adults, like a life sized dinosaur that told you good night stories. Geese I am frazzled. I am going to listen to Coast to Coast and hope that it comforts me enough to sleep. I wish I could be more positive and be really syked for tomorrow but each day it is like jumping into a bowl of unseasoned mashed potatoes.

When my anxiety is high and keeping me from sleep, I have a few techniques that can help. Sometimes a hot shower, hot enough that it makes me a little dizzy will put me to sleep. Sometimes sleeping on the couch w/ the tv on is good -- I watch the show until I am asleep, keeping those relentless thoughts and anxiety from robbing me of sleep. I've also had some luck w/ doing math & logic puzzles right before bed. If I can keep my mind on the last unsolved puzzle, it can sometimes keep my mind from racing with the things that create my anxiety.
