Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
This is the first time I've reached out for help. I really just feel like giving up. I lost my mom the end of November, and she was 80 years old. We have pretty much always lived together and have always taken care of each other. I dont even know what to think anymore as I am jut numb. When I should be able to just grieve, I'm having to deal with so much more. My brother who is 18 years older than me, kind of controls the 3 other brothers, and he has always had a thing against me. I am the youngest. The only girl. At the time my mom went in the hospital he filed a claim of elder abuse against me with claims of financial exploitation, and saying I didnt get my mom to appointments. I am 43 years old and spent all my time taking care of my mom and daughters. My mom went to all of her appointments and there was alot. As far as financial my mom received a small amount of ss and thats all she had. We lived together most of my life and we always have shared the cost of everything. My brother hadn't even talked tomy mom in over 6 months, never did anything for her, didn't even call her on her birthdays. Then I had another thing happen.I have a 5 year old daughter with Aspergers. In the time before my mom passed away, 2 weeks prior we were spending 3-4 hours at the hospital everyday. So needless to say we were all a little out of our usual. My daughters Kindergarden teacher called child protecction the day my mom passed away. The teacher knew that we were at the hospital with my mom in her final hours. The allegations were greasy hair, chips and cookies for lunch(not nutitious) and puling away from my husband because she didn't want to go to the hospital, she was having fun at school. As for lunch she did also have a sandwhich and applesauce, I believe she is being picked at because of her weight. The thing is anyone who knows me knows I am a very gentle person, I take care of everyone else and never take care of myself. They were going to close the CP case, but then I kept my daughter out because I didnt trust sending her back. She has an IEP and Ive keptin very close touch about getting things on the right track for her. Then the school called and it got reported for to many absences. We were in talks with the superintendent because of what happened. We have now enrolled our daughter in a new school that she will start Tuesday, but I am nervous because of her disability and the understanding of it. All of this has just destroyed me, and somedays I feel like I don't even want to go on. The only thing that keeps me going is my daughters, I also have a 19 year old. I feel like they would be better off without me. When you have all these people saying things you just start to wonder where you went wrong. It is so far from the truth. I automatically look to talk to my mom because she was always the first person I would turn to, and I miss her so much. Just feeling like I have no one. Thanks for listening
