Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I had a fight with my little sister Wednesday night. Over something stupid. And I tried to apologize, but she slammed her door in my face. I laid in my bed, listening to her cry. I wished I hadn't handed my knife over to Bria. So I could end the pain I was causeing. Instead, I got dressed and tried to leave. I intended to go for a walk to clear my head. In the middle of the night. We don't live in the safest part of town. Bria tackled me. She took a foot stool to the shoulder so I wouldn't get hurt. My roommates had called campus safety. They thought I had hurt my sister. Or myself. Bria told my RA about my recent thoughts of suicide. Our RA stayed until I calmed down. I apologized to my sister. She apologized to me. I begged her not to leave me. My RA told me that if I didn't go see the counselor voluntarily, she would tell the school. They would force me to go or remove me from school. I intend to go in Monday after class. I feel so broken. Everyone keeps looking at me like I might have another melt down. I'm just so tired of this.

A tree outside where I live is dying, seemingly from dog urine----with the bully in my building going out his way to not only have his dog urinate there but to have the dog urinate on the fence and sign I bought to try save the tree----and then slide the sign under my apt door.Turns out that was a TRIGGER for me----bullying and humialtion right out of high school. try to avoid all the triggers in your life--including any relatives who shut a door in your face, or anybody who tackles you (duh?)....i certainly couldn't handle that sh--.
i knew the wrong people when i was in my early 20s; you can really get caught up in all that drama. I still live around some of the wrong people, thanks to having no money.
dont go walking around at night, and don't carry a knife. take out your frustrations in a spiral notebook; walmart during summer back to school sales even has them for about a dime for 70 pages. keep a diary, write down how you feel, and what's going on---just dont tell anybody, and hide it real good.
and, after being in the military, you're probably dealing, mentally, with stuff that happened there, months ago; maybe post traumatic stress. maybe check out some local mental health group.

a saying my drunken dad couldn't tell me, cause he'd go to the bars all saturday night, but a saying i heard long after his death, and which resonates re my life in my 20s, and people i read about in the police log of my local paper.

it might take years, and be a painful wait, but still something to look forward to. a few days ago i put in an application for govt housing in another town...3 -5 year wait! But still something to look forward to, even with me old enough to feel like i have one foot in the grave.
Penntucky, I take no offense. If I had explained more, you would have understood better. And thank you for the suggestions. Sadly, I'll have to go through my counselor to find something in walking distance from my home, as I don't have a vehicle. Thank you so much, though!
