Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I am afraid of heights and I am no dare devil.
I won't even climb a ladder.

Do all depressed people have these thoughts?
Do so called regular people have these thoughts?
And yeah I did read your comment.
Do you get excited after having these thoughts?
Does that even scare you more?
i don't get it. and I am not worried that you are suicidal if that helps.
Nite.
me.
For me it's the 'sort of wanting to' part that is worrisome. That's when I know I'm in trouble. Things can easily get out of my control when that's the way I start thinking. That's my warning sign that I need to come up with a serious safety plan, and hospitalization becomes a real option.
When I no longer have a reaction to these thoughts, (not in the way I'm going to describe in the next paragraph-as I've not yet learned how to do that successfully) that is when I know I have to have someone take me to the hospital, because I can't even be trusted to get myself there safely.
But in general, everyone is going to have thoughts that may concern them from time to time, and may not really fit in with who they are or their aims/beliefs in life. But it's what you do with those thoughts that matter. Or at least that's what I'm learning. I'm being taught that when a 'disturbing' thought comes to think, 'Okay, I had that thought. Big deal. Neurons are firing. It doesn't mean anything.' You don't embrace it and you don't fear it. You just let it pass and focus on thoughts that are more healthy/healthfully happy.
And as a precaution, even though you stated there's nothing to worry about, if you're concerned about your safety or your ability to stay safe, please call a hotline, 911, or get to the hospital safely.
The thoughts scare me and I don't get the rush like you. But I do have those type of thoughts. You aren't alone.
