Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Hi There! Here is a list of items that can trigger my depression and anxiety and a list of habits that help. What are some of yours? I had this conversation with a friend and it changed my life as I learned about items to help me that I had not considered. I love sharing with you and learning from you!
Triggers: Diet:MSG (a big one: I was perplexed by how much better my symptoms are and how this is legally allowed in food. Seriously, google the health affects of MSG and all of the names for this additive and get it out of your diet.), processed Food/no fast food (Fast food companies rely an additives and MSG that your body works overtime to remove and depleats your energy leaving you to feel exhausted and depressed. Plus while your body is taking in toxins, it is not recieving nutrients to boost your mood and energy. For example the pepperoni on a dominoes pizza is preserved with a chemical utilized in embalming fluid and rocket fuel.), No corn syrup (fast food and processed food utilizes corn syrup which actually makes you feel more hungry later giving you the emotional sense of feeling deprived.) This is so you want to eat more. Too much TV, Focusing on the past, Having a negative or victim outlook, being around people who are consistantly negative or ungrateful, not exercising, being too hard on myself or pressuring myself, not taking time for myself, not enough sunshine, dehydrated not drinking enough water (super serious affect on thinking clearly, removing toxins and mood).
Remedies or Regular habits that help: Reading food labels, eating bright foods (fresh fruit and salads and eliminating msg; gardening: the scent of soil has anti-depressant benefits; regular walks; when thoughts about the past come up I recognize that I am still attached to it and figure out how to let it go and do it whether on my own or in therapy; Victim or negative thoughts: I do my best to flip the thought and find some power in my role with whatever the situation is instead and utilize emdr therapy to change these behavior patterns; take time in the sun everyday that it is possible; I drink plenty of water; I also discovered that my adrenal and thyroid overactivity was also causing depression symptoms and I now take supplements to support a more balanced thyroid; I also take supplements that assist with my anxiety.

It's National Doughnut Day!Which three would you like? (never mind the calories, fat, or sugar content; just go with what you would pick if none of that mattered and whatever health issues you might have that would keep you from eating one in real life can be cast aside for this exercise as well... have at it!)
