Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
But if nothing ever changes then you become stagnant. Life becomes boring --routine and discipline are good. But we also need to grow and do and learn --if we are not living if we are not improving if we are not risking then we are dying.
Yes I think it is part of combating depression but it is more a part of LIVING. I am happiest when I am accomplishing. Or when I am overcoming.
Unfaced Fear is far too strong to Confront alone. It "knows" this, and isolates us; makes us into lonely, helpless victims.
How do I know? Glad you asked. I am only here, because I have been THERE.
Three years remission, and counting. How's it workin' for all y'all?
Yeah, Bob, we've talked about FEAR before on this board. As I said before, CONFRONTING fear is a GOOD thing. I'm not saying "let's go skydiving today, yeah!" but confronting LITTLE fears, SOCIAL fears, and besting them, gives a welcome feeling of accomplishment.
I too tend to shut down and turn inward in social situations. I simply don't know what to say to people most of the time. I'm trying to be humble and just listen, offer no opinion whatsoever, just be supportive of whatever anyone is talking about.
Thanks, all.
