Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I recall the same feeling. Many years ago, we moved our family to the way backwoods, out of the loop, a country without streetlights. We literally had to pay to install them, lol!
What I learned is that the still of time is a great reason to dig into the stillness and come up with a keen idea of what spiritual essence means. And this is where you are fully engaged in thoughts of the creation. We were fortunate to live under pine trees and a sky with great moonlight. Sometimes, after putting kids to bed and settling down for the night, I'd walk outside and just peer up at the stars and the moon. All around me was amazingly still and quiet. Some of my best thoughts came during meditation. To me, this became my moment to seek, and ye shall find. This was the most peaceful time of my life! Honestly, this was the peel back time of layers of my life. I treasure those days. I am who I am today because of my "outskirts" of the city moment.
The best of your life is ahead of you today. Enjoy it. Friends can wait until you've found yourself.
Hugs & love.
My generation (50 year olds) are being counseled that we can not expect our partner/spouse to meet all our needs -- it is not fair to them. We need to meet our needs in lots of different ways...
I wonder... can you consider a move to a busier neighborhood -- isolation will only get worse as mobility decreases. I find it comforting to simply live in a neighborhood where I see neighbors walking their dogs and biking down the street.
Can you schedule visits to family/friends when your hubby is planning to go away? Or ask a relative/friend to come to you for a visit? Or sign up for a trip with some senior in the area (or if you have money, go for a trip with seniors -- where you don't take your hubby)?
I feel your pain and isolation. It does not feel good, especially now with Covid shutting all options down.
I come back to the counselor idea; a therapist is like the genie who grants wishes... once you are talking to them the solutions can begin to flow.
You are worthy, lovable, and you matter.
