Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
So, not only do I live with depression, but I'm constantly unable to take things normal people can because of said depression. Embarassment? Lethal. Today I went painting with my old school's Art Club. And then the teacher took us out for pizza afterward. Well, all was going great until we were eating our pizza. And my "friend" started telling everyone there about how much of a slob I am. Now, I admit, I'm not the most cleansly person in the world. But I'm not completely disgusting, as she was making me out to be. So, while she sat there and told everyone, including two girls I don't know, a girl that I look up to very much, and one of my favorite teachers of ALL time, and in VERY grave detail, of how much of a slob I am. And the way she made me out? I should be living in a dumpster. I wanted to say: "You know what? YOU try living with clinical depression and keeping a place completely spotless". Instead, I sat there and listened, almost in tears, plotting how I could possible kill myself that night. And yet, my fear of death stopped the thoughts in their tracks. But how long, how many more embarassments, how many tears are going to be shed, before I actually get over my fear of death and those thoughts don't stop? I even confronted her about it. And she looked at me, laughed, and said: "Haha, but Nicole, You really ARE a slob...don't argue with that one." I'm not really a slob. I'm a typical teenage female with depression. It may not look the nicest, but I am far from a slob.

I am so sorry this gal made you feel so bad. Some people seriously have NO tact whatsoever. Even though she laughed and probably tried to make it *light* she, I would imagine, gets a kick out of making herself feel above others and this was one way for her to do so.
Personally I have a feeling she was probably seen by the people there as a humongous asshole and you probably came out smelling like a rose...that's how it usually works. If any of those people had one ounce of sense they will have seen that she was being a jerk and making you feel bad and I bet they were thinking how rotten she was to do this. IDK...I know I would have popped off with something to her in a sarcastic way.

In a perfect world nobody have to fight over things like this. But she. She's stepping on your dignity and pride. You have to stand up for yourself! If you can't have your pride and dignitiy intact in your life you don't have anything. Seriously. I know confrontation isn't really a nice thing. When somebody robs something that is essential for you to live then you have to stand up for yourself with everything you got! And dignity is one of those things!
Have a courage to stand up next time she does. It seems like a small thing. But having courage on critical moment like that will have a huge impact in your life!
