Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I am new here so I am not sure how do I quote someone. But I would like to shout out to the person who might lose his job after 10years that I understand how he feels. I am in my job for a few years and this mistake was nearly a career ending mistake
I cannot leave my job as I have a family to feed but I feel I cannot hold my head high up anymore. I am subconsciously thinking everyone looks down on me and that even I were to change a job this memory would be back to haunt me someday. I do not even dare to look at people around me in the eye.
I was feeling better after some consolation from people just now and it really did make me think I felt better. But now it has come back to haunt me again and I am back to feeling worthless again.
How can I get out of this
And stop beating yourself up!! This mistake doesn't define you - your values define you. The fact that you are remorseful indicates that you are responsible and hold yourself accountable, and there will be many other values that you recognize. These are who you are!! Stay strong, be real with your wife and be that person at work.
There will be other opportunities and you'll be a better colleague for the lesson learned.
In my mind I am screaming I want to run away so so badly but I am putting on a strong front in office that I am taking it in my stride.
1. Quit and show your wife and kids that when the going gets tough, the best thing to do is to quit.
2. Tremendously excel at what you are doing now and show your wife and kids that you are a fighter, and when the going gets tough, the average guy quits...but not you. You push on.
I recommend #2. Do your best at whatever job you are given. Although it might be embarrassing to have to face your coworkers when everyone knows what happened, if you work hard at your new position, you show them and management that you own up to your mistakes, learn from them, and move on. That is the kind of husband a wife wants, a father kids want, a colleague coworkers want, and a team player management want. So, it's up to you. What are you going to choose?
