Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
If your mother feels your efforts aren't enough, maybe they aren't. Have the conversation. Talk about what her expectations are, and what expectations you have. Find out where the disconnect is. Find out what your powers of childcare are, and how to manage the children. Discuss it. Investigate. Explain the time requirements of college. Work out a system and keep in contact about how well it is working for you both.
You need to start having some conversations with your mother as to how to do what she wants at the same time as getting what you want. She's spending all this money on your education, she has no desire to undermine it - so have those honest conversations. have those courageous conversations. It's time to start learning how to handle interpersonal relationships in a forward-thinking, directed way. Adults seek out solutions and aim towards them, and you are now an adult. this is your developmental next step.
