I am not so much feeling depressed as I am trying to make a decision. I really am confused. I guess you could say that I feel a little bit apathetic because I have been through this dilemma for so long.
It is my career. I will try to put this in a a nutshell. Teaching is not working out for me and I have tried to make it work for ten years. A struggle. It is also getting to the point where I am topping out financially and am forced to do something else. Because of the financial struggle, I had to have my parents help me. My parents assisted me with settling a credit card, my credit took quite a hit, and I have rented a home from my mother for two years. I can no longer afford a place of my own. She would like me to move on, I am pretty sure.
All of this put together requires a change of career with one that offers more money.
So, rewind 2.5 years ago, this crisis led to year-long unemployment, severe depression and hospitalization, and a desperation move to try to escape back to the Midlwest, where I am from.
I recovered, adapted, found a job, and became used to the weather and freedom of living in a desert. I finally found a social set and resolved some issues. However, the job is a disaster. After about five years of banging my head trying to get back to the Midwest and failing, I settled and began to love my lifestyle. On my last two trips back, I truly hated the cold and its affect on my arthritis. I have no desire to return. Here it is: the perfect job match from the Midwest just showed up in my inbox, outside of teaching. All my skills and abilities. I bet they would contact and hire me. But, I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK THERE! Cold, snow, long, dark days...no mountains, free space or adventures. My extended family is there.
I am applying to other places here out West. What the hell should I do? I can't stay in the career or living situation I am in. I keep thinking of the god sent you a boat, plane, train analogy.
I am not looking for specific advice or anyone to "tell me what to do," but some input would be appreciated. I am CONFUSED.

Can you get a roommate and stay where you are? When my mom passes, I will have to do the same.The only way I could live alone is if I gave up cable, the internet, the phone, and never used the heater or air conditioner. Oops, I just re-read your post to see if I answered everything and saw that you don't want advice. I hope I didn't give that. I just know what I would do. I have never had a job that i hated so I don't know what that would be like. I myself,could never last in the cold because of my depression. I don't think you are looking for advice as much as you just want someone to listen and know what you are going through. That is one of the things we are here for!
