I am so sorry for your pending loss. Do you want to vent about it some more?

THere is a bereavement group here; even though you are not technically there yet, many people there have gone through what you are and they should be able to offer you their perspective.

My first grandmother to pass did so when I was young and in a time when children were denied many facts. They called it protecting us. I am not in the position of watching my mother fade; it is not fun. I can only imagine how you must be feeling.

I feel real bad cause I most likely won't be able go to the funeral cause have no one to look after my cats and work I don't think thed give me time off she lives real far away, I'm feel bad cause I won't be able to say goodbye but I all in my heart I guess feel most bad for my dad cause I know men have a hard time showing their pain but I can see he's hurting even though he says he doesn't want her to suffershe was a great grandmother when I was growing up she was quiet and anymore its hard to loose a loved one no matter how old,

Sorry that didn't make sense I meant she was guiet but she tried to teach us so much and she always had encouraging words

Talk to your boss, let her/him know what is going on. You might be surprised at their willingness to work with you on time off. (It might help if you volunteer to take extra shifts at short notice.)

As for your cats, there are many places to board pets. Yes, it is heartbreaking to do it, but you have to set your priorities. My cat gets upset when we leave for the weekend. When she gives us the cold shoulder we ignore her. If she does it too long, then we pretend to be interested in something on the ground. Her natural curiosity gets the better of her, and within 15 or 20 minutes she is purring up a storm as we lavish her with 'all the attention that a cat of her stature deserves'!
