Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I've met some WONDERFUL people online, I'd collect them all and hold them close forever and ever if I could. You included :)
Secondly, I think it's easier to make friends online because you don't have the pressure of someone looking at you and judging you. Some people take advantage of that, and pretend to be someone they are not. It's a damn shame.
I like the sense of ...... searching..... a complete developed human being with good days, bad days, life stories that take time to get to know, I like to know their histories, their families, etc.
If I only have a few real friends like this, then I am extremely grateful, which I am.
online friends become friends, but for me personally, there is an added element of paranoia which I don't experience in real life.
Is he/she real, are they making fun of me etc.
It's very hard to read everything in black and white, without tone, or body language or touching or laughing etc.
so, if it is harder to become more intimate as friends go, then it is also to become less intimate quickly, or less invested quickly, where as in RL this doesn't happen as much.
I find I have more online friends that I really don't know at all, and just a few very very good friends in RL who I have long histories with.
Also, because of my online friendships, I am learning to be more intimate with my RL friendships, which is nice.
I hope this made sense to you.
If not, send it back and I will try again. :)
Good question..and post..thanks
