Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
It's looking forward to things.
It's realising that you have laughed and enjoyed the simple things and tackled the hard things.
It's walking with your head up instead of down.
It's wishing for it to never end.
I remember this once.... And I WILL GET THERE AGAIN.
I'm on the other side but 2 yrs. ago when I found DS, I was starting to sink again after coming out of a major depression 2 yrs. prior. I can only come out with meds & therapy - I have a brain chemical imbalance that I inherited. However, my anxiety is/was much worse than my depression.
Coming out feels like a re-birth. It feels great to wake up in the mornings, drink coffee & smile & laugh & to be able to get things done & sleep properly. To be able to enjoy the simple things in life again & not feel so alone, hopeless & miserable.
BTW, a lot of that have come out, stay here for a variety of reasons, we have made friends that we like to talk with & also we like to help others & also, we never know when it will "hit" again.
As you know there is no cure for depression. I call it "in remission" when you feel better.
Good luck to you.
