Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a form of therapy that attempts to teach / retrain your subconscious thoughts new things.
For instance, if you're fighting your weight, doing pretty well, then something bad happens and you head for the pies, thats your subconscious telling you that's what you should do.
CBT is about learning what the triggers are and then the therapist will 'talk' to your subconscious under a hypnotised state, and retrain it.
Therapist will also give you scenarios to recall, for instance to imagine yourself in a place where you want to be while your thumb and forefinger are touching. Whenever you recognise your trigger, put your thumb and forefinger together and recall the visualisation.
Etc..
I haven't had this treatment for depression, but I would recommend it.
For me it is good, it keeps me on track most of the time.
