Today is day one of 10mg of Citalopram for me. For 16 days I was on 5mg, and the switch has not been noticeable yet. I feel like my body is starting to get used to the medicine, but I am still feeling a little anxious. I am hoping to get up to 20 mg, but I am having a really weird side effect. I feel very disconnected from everyone and everything. I know this could be the depression, but it makes me feel anxious and confused when I am going to spend time with my partner. Has anyone else felt this way? Does it get better?

I was moved up from 10 mg to 20 mg a couple of Years back and have experienced mania since.

I agree about those feeling of anxiety expecially when with my partner in an attempt to get intimate if you get my drift. I get bad bouts of dry mouth also

That feeling did get better for me after a month or so, and has gone completely now.

I say give it another few weeks. If you still feel like symptoms of depression are taking over, then I'd contact your physician for a medication change or dosage change. Citalopram(Celexa) takes 2-4 weeks to attain desired therapeutic effect. 40 mg daily is the max dosage typically so this is a very potent SSRI. Your doctor is being careful with you and keeping you on a low dose and building up. That is good.

Hi, I started again on Citalopram today at 10 mg. I went off it on my own because I was feeling better. I kind of felt the same way you did. I'm also taking a small dosage of L-Tyrosine, I am going to see my Dr. Thursday and will discuss whether I should be doing that. Since the first of the year, I've just felt "empty".

I had that sensation when I first started; I think that's my general side effect with any psychiatric medication. It went away after a week or two. If that's not the case with you, I'd tell your doctor about it and try something else.
