Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I am sure it is. I am not justifying it. If she has been/is estranged, no doubt she said this in anger. Anger is a very 'bad thing' .. and when used .. calls for some discountability.
Basically, I am suggesting you (try to) let it 'bounce off' as something she said in anger .. and go on with your life. Just my reaction to your post.
I don't know which issues you are dealing with, but you just can't let comments like that "stick." I know it's much easier said than done, but if you can, just brush them off and do/think something positive.
I wish you luck with your daughter, and peace in general. Hugs to you.
but it's the way she says it...SSSSSIII..ko!
she knows it upsets you, that's why she does it, perhaps...how old is she?
when my daughter says that to me..and my son too..i tell them..that, yup that's right..and be careful it's hereditary. i can say this on a day when i'm not upset about other stuff. otherwise..it has made me cry...
they also say, you're CRAZY. i feel you luv.
Elena, you made me laugh! thank you. First time I've found humor in it.
My daughter is 26 in a month. She didn't want to move with me when she was 16 (I had to move for a job). I was a single mom with her and her younger sister and brother. My ex lived in the same town. She acted as though she was going to move with us until we actually moved. Then she said good-bye, her Dad was letting her live with him so she could stay with her friends. Then she drove away.
I saw her once more when she came to visit. She was in a teenager bad mood, non-talkative. I tried to get her to talk (too demandingly). We had terrible words with her telling me I was crazy and she didn't trust me and wouldn't stay with me. Last I saw of her.
The other kids said their father talked very badly about me from the time of the divorce and that she was used as his confidant.
I suffer from major depression and PTSD from childhood sexual abuse. I have had problems with suicidal ideation for years even with meds and continuous therapy for 15 years.
