I ran out of my celexa a little over a week ago. I also take wellbutrin. I have a doctor's appt. Wednesday. I figured I would be fine. The first few days I felt ok, so I thought I can get off of it with no problem. I am a teacher and getting ready for school to start. Not a good time to decide this. LOL I have been having crazy dreams and either I can't sleep or I sleep for a long period of time. I feel so out of it today. I am working in my classroom cleaning it and I feel like I have been drinking or something. I am so out of it. I feel like I can't concentrate. I also had major night sweats the last several nights. Woke up soaked and cold. Then I would return to hot. I wanted to get off them but I can't handle this. I feel like I am hyper but can't concentrate and tired. I know this sounds weird. I have been taking celexa for years so this is the first time I have been without it for a long time. Any similar syptoms for anyone.

short answer is yes. Longer answer is the meds you are talking about are neurotransmitter affectors/repressors. Cold-turkeying something like that can cause havoc on you. Even with the script being out, generally speaking a pharmacy will still either contact the doctor and get an okay to fill or will give you enough to make your appointment. So they should have still filled it. The general method for taking someone off of something like that is to gradually bring them down over time. you really want to get back on them as soon as you can and let your doctor know what happened.

thats what I was thinking. But I was fine for about 4 days. I say I was, I didn't feel quite like this. Thanks, Kim

Could also be some perimenopausal symptoms adding to the mix as well. I would think your doctor would be willing to call in the refill for you.

meds take time to both build up in your system and to drain back out. So the over all reaction would have been subtle for the first few days then gradually build back up as there was less and less of the med in your system. Trojanthunder also has a good point.

I find that the older I get, the more it's not a good idea to go off my meds for any length of time. When I was younger, I cold do that, but now, it only takes a few days for me to get that climbing the wall feeling.
