Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
This is your life you're looking at for yourself in the future. This is not a normal relationship in any form or fashion. This person has no clue as to the priorities in his life. Wish you much luck and encourage you to keep posting.
While it may not be easy, I would encourage you to let your bf know how you feel. It doesn't have to be an argument, but the conversation should happen. You want the people in your life to be supportive of you, and he should be aware of the importance of all of this in your life.
Keep taking those steps forward.
Focus on yourself because being with this guy it is worse than being alone.
I would rather be alone because at least if you are alone you will not continue to be hurt and disappointed by this guy. Obviously his drugs and getting high are more important to him than being with you. But that is true with anyone that does drugs. They will always put the drug before someone else. I am so sorry he hurt you and I hope you will help yourself and stay away from him. That is not a person that you need to have in your life. He is selfish. He did not forget. He was either high or hung over or just blew you off. It is horrible what he did to you and it won't be the last time. You deserve so much better sweetie. (((HUGS)))
So all he has to do is say he is sorry and that makes it all okay?
You deserve better.
He has started withdrawing before my episode of depression and even though i've spoken to him about it he says he "doesn't know what he's doing wrong". He used to treat me perfectly but lately he's been spending more time with friends, breaking plans with me, not wanting to see me as much etc.
When I'm with him I make sure i am not having one of my worse days and will be quite positive. He has not seen or been told the full extent to how bad I'm actually feeling.. I stay relatively strong around him. I've cried a few times infront of him and told him very bluntly "I have been feeling depressed lately and have been thinking about making a visit to my doctor. I'd love for you to come with me, i'm quite nervous. I need you're support right now". He's agreed, hugged me etc but 90% of the time he doesn't prioritize me anymore.
I told him "I'm not asking for anything from you, I just want you to like you were at the beginning of the relationship and not withdrawn". And I mean it, I'm not asking for him to cater to me all the time.. I just want him to be normal. It's added baggage when he's being like this.
I think I've had my eyes opened to where his priorities in the past couple of weeks but this time really was the last straw. I couldn't help but remember all the late nights when I'd spend hours comforting him as he was crying about the passing of his nan, and getting up early to give him lifts to the doctors when he was ill whilst I was sitting in the doctors alone today. I felt so let down.. I think it's time to focus on me like you said gramybear.
I can't comment on the people part right now, because i just gave up on them, You got a chance to make your life better I hope....I know i don't.
