Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
I had two MILs that couldn't stand me for whatever their crazy reasons (trust me they were crazy reasons) but I married their sons anyway. First marriage lasted 8 years. This last one lasted 3 1/2 until he passed away. My now fiance's mom adored me in the brief time before she passed which made me feel awesome because she saw my good qualities unlike the others who nitpicked and ripped me apart at every chance they got!
Back in the day some people would drive themselves crazy if they hadn't had their partners parents approval, but you have to remember at the end of the day it's you and him, not you, him and his dad. He may not ever like you, but wondering why all the time isn't good for the relationship to continue to grow. Just my 2 cents...
"Sir, .. I love (your boyfriend) but I am afraid of saying the wrong things to you, and I don't want you to dislike me."
It is an ice breaker.
Nothing beats the truth.
I like WV's idea. Go with short and simple statements, but don't expect a heartfelt reaction from him right then and there. Make the statement and then change the subject in as neutral a way as possible.
Gentle hugs
I know people who like me and people who don't, but I have never been afraid to find out ... and ultimately, I did not have to ask them.
There are people who used to like me and now don't and the other way around. I did not have to ask them either.
I think you are worrying about a problem you may not have. Visit with him, .. get to know him and let him get to know you. You will find out if he likes you or not.
