Is there anyone else that's been on Lexapro and Cymbalta at the same time?
I was diagnosed with clinical depression late last year. My doctor started me on Cymbalta then increase my dosage. Then added Abilify. Since I was still having problems with depression and anxiety, my temp psychiatrist was trying to switch me to Lexapro. But I didn't handle the change very well (upset stomach and light-headed etc.) so my doctor decided to let me stay on the Lexapro and also a low dose of the Cymbalta. Now I am on Abilify, Lexapro and Cymbalta.
I have to ask: is it typical to need two different antidepressants and a mood stabilizer for major depression?

"serotonin syndrome" if the combo of drugs raises your levels too high.
Cymbalta is an SNRI and Lexapro is an SSRI , so they both affect serotonin levels. Im not a doc but I guess if the doses are low enough it wouldn't be a problem. I would just ask the doc about serotonin syndrome and see what he says.
