Hello guys and gals
I want to address a problem that I've seen on other sites like Web MD. where many of us who experience the side effects of Medications like the "Statin" family mainly the Blood Pressure medications and in lower amounts in medications for acid reflex and the other upper Gastrointestinal problems where these meds seem to be depleting our immune system and the results are extreme to moderate tiredness , joint and muscle pain , and the multitude of other side effects that inundate our lives.. Most of our medications contain "statins" as in pravastatin .
I'm going to be very direct with this and not spend too much time elaborating here. I suffered intensely with several of these more intense side affects, but the main one that tormented and affected me the most is the muscle pain and joint pain...I am just recovering from a few years of rotator- cuff and or ligament and muscle tearing of both shoulders as the work I do involves acute and repeated lifting of heavy objects at approx. 300 to 500 on any given day each weighing no less than 35 lbs and no heavier than 110 lbs each...Of course , we have to be in the top of our conditioning to maintain a regimen as abusive as this and we are approximately 25% of us suffering from some type of injury or muscle and joint pain at any given time..The medical teams hate to see us come in..
I have an extensive background in injury prevention, go figure that I would be the worst injury in the group, but I am 61 years of age and have been in a few serious accidents as well.. I also have tech training in Physical/Occupational Therapy for a few years from a prior job when I thought I wanted to pursue Occupational Therapy.
I will tell you that without a doubt that if you are taking any of the "statins" drugs or you suffer from joint and or muscle pain from acid Reflex medications or others drugs that have similar side effects I strongly urge you make every effort to EXERCISE those areas added with that some kind of Cardiovascular exercise routine that you can monitor daily...If you note any positive relief from the exercise and you are able to maintain an exercise routine you may want to incorporate a routine that is adaptable to your lifestyle..
Of course, this goes without saying to SEE or talk with your medical physician who cares for your condition before attempting this..If you are young this technique of physical training can be very advantageous to and for you.
If you find that exercising and cardio exercise has a negative effect on your health or pain stop immediately, but if it's bearable work through it with caution...If you find that the exercise has a tendency to ease the muscle and joint pain incorporate it into your daily routine...The trick is to form a daily routine , however.. Skipping too many days will only show more aggravation of the side effects of muscle and joint pain..
Best Wishes and let us know how this works out for some of you please...I had good success with it...Even if it's just a matter of doing anaerobic exercises (ie. arm rotations, squats, sit-ups, knee bends, any exercises that you can do without the aid of weights that allow you or cause you to breathe heavy for at least 10 to 15 minutes...Then, as time goes by increase those time intervals ...
