Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I totally understand how you feel depressed and overwhelmed. I spent many, many years trying to figure out how to come to grips with my friends (and some family) who were going to jail or getting in trouble and some folks were even killed, victims of crime, at a very young age too. For goodness sake, it's very depressing. And it's no wonder that you're not doing well with this situation with your friend. And you can believe me I spent a great deal of my adult life reading scriptures and praying fiercely to God to guide me into a way to get away from those scary type of feelings or constant thoughts of loss and disappointments with people; things such as never knowing when the next emergency phone call(s) would come through about the death/murder, hospital admission or imprisonment of someone I deeply cared for, or times when having to collect money to bail some person out of jail came about, all depressing news. Struggles. Now, as of today, I'm doing very fine though. And what helped to make things better is that I finally declared my own healthy peace, which began when I let go and asked that God would help me to deal with my hurt in His own way, sort of like this old, but very wise, saying goes, 'let go-and let God.' I did that. So at present, some troublesome folks which I love and care for are no longer allowed in my life, at all. Because I set strong and strict boundaries for my own emotional safety and by this way I choose who I allow in my life very carefully from now on. Usually, those I open up to are responsible family and friends, very few though, yet these are those who are in better control of their actions & behaviors. I have to live this way because thinking too much about others' problems is just too much to cope with over the course of life. I hope the best for you too.
I really am glad that you are taking responsibility to get involved with an online group of supporters, sorry for this reason, but glad that you are not holding on to your depression but sharing the burdens with others experiencing the same sadness is wise of you. Ultimately, you will grow stronger by this method too. Just, please, don't give up on yourself. Stay focused on getting free of your depression in a safe and healthy way.
Sending you good strong vibes of healing, izzy; you're in my prayers!
