Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
But then again, she worked 3 jobs to take care of you both, that might have made her uber-practical and nuts and boltsy.
You just never know though, till you speak to her. Family will always love you even when they don't know how to handle you.
Same with the brother. give him a call.
Being dumped is awful. I have been there and there is nothing as awful as being dumped. But you do come out of it on the other side. You do rise up out of your own ashes: a new person, different from before. tougher, stronger, kinder.
The boyfriend was not 100% committed to you. That's what has happened here. He hadn't jumped in with both feet. So when the going got tough, he got going. You don't need that from a lover. you need a guy who's in there with both feet for you, willing to lock it all in.
It hurts now, but all that has happened is you have saved yourself time. Imagine living with him for 10 yrs never knowing you were that disposable, and then you lost your job then....
It's awful but it's good that it's now, because now you do have those years to find someone else.
Now I want you to go wash your face and make yourself a promise: you're not going to say things like, and I quote...
"I've dragged him down and made his life miserable" No you gave him life experiences he sorely needed and he CLEARLY failed to learn the right lessons for him.
"if he never met me he'd be a lot happier" Stuff him. If you'd never met HIM you'd be a lot happier.
"I'm just a worthless piece of shit" WASH YOUR MOUTH OUT and give yourself a slap from me. Don't EVER put yourself down.
It's not okay to put yourself down. It's not. if you don't put other people down, and you put yourself down, do you know what that means?
It means you're a hypocrite. It means you judge others by different standards from yourself. Are you a hypocrite? Do you have a double standard? No? Then don't behave this way. It's disrespectful to yourself. Don't be disrespectful of your own self. You're somebody's son. You'll be somebody's father some day. Do not be rude to you.
Hang on to that: it's not okay. You've had a love affair with someone who couldn't bring themselves to sacrifice their lifestyle for love. They made their choice. And now everyone has to live with it. But don't turn it into something else.
Don't turn it into a reason to castigate yourself. Think about the good times, think about the bad times, Remember it all, accept the experiences, be glad that it happened and then weep for its passing.
It happened: and that is all.
And cry on my shoulder any time you like. This is going to take ages. Being dumped is six months of agony and grief and misery and hell if you loved them. I'm here for you even if I seem like a meanie.
While it is true that people who don't know depression will never understand what it's like, we cannot let ourselves be limited by their ignorance. In a community of depressed people you will be hard pressed to find one person who will judge you because of your sexual orientation. My partner was ridiculed in public as a monster whilst carrying our baby girl around in his tattooed arms. That kind of ignorance rolls off his back because he knows he's the one who made the choice to get the tattoos in the first place. Nobody chooses depression. You don't have to stand for the ignorance of others. I know it's hard but you have to try and surround yourself with people who think like you. Not necessarily people who know depression, but perhaps people who see the world as you do.
I hope that one day you will find your place in the world and I want you to know that no matter how bad you feel, you have worth.
Remember, everyone has a purpose on this earth. You will find it soon. Keep your head up and keep going! Hugs to you! You're not alone!
