Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
Depression is known to cause low self esteem, a lack of love for ourselves, and many other negative thoughts. Please keep in mind that it's your depression talking and not what your normal thoughts would be if you did not have it.
You are you, you are not a condition
a disease,
or an illness
you are a wonderful creation and you were given this life for a purpose. Try to remember these words.
Many times we feel alone because if someone hasn't dealt with depression or have it, we feel that we are alone in our fears, thoughts, worries, and sadness. We are never alone but the devil can sure make us feel that way. You are in a dark hole and it's time to help you pull yourself out of it. The light is shining for you, it's just a matter of finding a way to the surface where you can see what is going on in your life. What is making you feel unworthy? Is it other people or just yourself and what you feed your brain from the depression? It's important to have a support group of some kind, whether it be here, from friends and family, or in God. Why are you living in such poor conditions? Can you share that with us? Without insurance I am assuming that you aren't on any type of medication or have a therapist to talk to. Have you talked to the county to try and get some type of aid? It sounds like you are deserving of it. You are not selfish, you are just needing answers and want to be happy. That isn't asking too much at all. What can we do to help? Hugs GB
I am on medication, Zoloft. Most of the time it works but sometimes it doesn't.
Thank you for your reply. I think you are right....it is more loneliness that depression. I will check out the loneliness support group.
Best wishes to you.
chemistry. Talk to your Doctor about adjusting yours.
sometimes we set our goals way too high... if you want to climb the mountain in front of you, you cant leap up and expect to be on the top... you have to look at the ground in front of you and find the best place to put your foot... then the next... then the next...
maybe what you need to do is break down your large goals into very small pieces and set smaller goals that lead to the big one
i hope this helps
*hugs*
As for the depression, I firmly believe that it is a chemical imbalance in the brain. Medicine can help but you also have to work hard to lift yourself out of depression. Get outside, take a walk and try to keep things positive in your life. Eat right, stay on schedule (do the things you know you are suppose to do everyday.) Write on here or post to your journal. I find writing to be very therapeutic. Seek out counseling . I also read books in order to understand just what depression is and what to do to
help your treatment.
You are not a selfish person, if so you would not try to understand those who you feel are worse of f than you. And, no you are not feeling to highly of yourself. lack of motivation,, happiness and self worth are just some of the symptoms of depression. I have been there, I do understand. It will get better. Keep working at it. by writing and sharing in this group.
I found all of your ideas helpful and I do educate myself, read and try to pull myself up. It justs gets tough sometimes. thanks for being there.
best wishes.
