Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
The last couple years I've maybe had post-traumatic stress with memories re going to church----of decades ago.
My parents were very willing to tell people I was shy, and to isolate me----except when it came to forcing me to go to church. My drunken dad was the one who forced me to church; my drunken mom wasn't a church goer.
My worthless dad never missed a Sunday at church----but he also never missed a whole Saturday at the bars, usually leaving home around noon or two in afternoon, and coming home around 3 in the morning, and then getting some sleep before taking me to church, 8 miles away.
Today's Sunday----and that's what Sunday means to me.

I understand that your relationship with your parents wasn't the best, but that doesn't have to and shouldn't define your relationship with God.
The church is God's house...not ours...and that is where you go to work on your relationship with God, your Heavenly Father who loves you unconditionally.
