I'm just still surprised and shocked at how my life turned out and how a man who used to shed tears when promising me forever, to love, protect and care for me can suddenly turn into a narc I couldn't recognize. It's been two years since my divorce but sometimes the trauma and horror I experienced come rushing back. Anyway he moved on with another woman before we went our separate ways, turns...

I need some outside perspective because I’ve been feeling extremely lonely in my relationship, and it’s getting harder to ignore.I’m with a woman who has two kids, and over time I’ve realized I don’t feel connected to her or the home at all. She and the kids have their own bubble, their own rhythm, their own emotional world. I’m there physically, but I don’t feel included in...
I have a 22 year old son who I had at 19 and it was rough!! I was going to school full time/working part-time and being a mommy full time of course. I had to do it all alone; I had no family and his dad was nowhere to be found when I really needed him. Rough, rough, rough!
Even if you have the most wonderful partner in the world it's still no picnic in the park. Your life will never be your own for a long time, unless you're one of these moms that doesn't give two s***s and dumps the kid off to who knows who to party.
You have to make a lot of sacrifices and put your wants/needs on the back burner for awhile. There's doctors appts out of this world during the first year alone. You have to always make sure they've got a roof over their head/clothed/fed/diapers/wipes, etc., etc. and that stuff goes up in price every year! Trust me my mini-me who just turned 4 when I look at things I bought back then has jumped in price.
Don't get me wrong I love my mini-me to the moon and back, however there are times I'm pulling my hair out :P
Having a baby isn't like having a pet where you feed/water it and play with it a bit and that's all. Babies need your full attention more in the first year than any, but also until 18 and sometimes beyond.
The reality of parenting, is that kids will tell you that they hate you ten times for every once that they tell you that they love you...and that's with a good relationship.
Meanwhile, you have to suck it up and tell them that you love them (even when you don't, even when you wonder what made you want to have kids, even when you're TIRED/Sick/have to work/and just want 5 minutes to yourself...my kids are teenagers and they STILL have a sense and somehow manage to want something the minute I go into the bathroom!)
Being a parent is paying for your kids to go to the movies...even if you desperately need new clothes. Paying for their ice creams, pretending that you're not hungry. Buying them a drink, pretending that you're not thirsty too...
All for ungrateful kids who will never appreciate all that you've done for them... and may in fact complain bitterly that you don't love them, don't care, and that they wish that they had the neighbors as parents.
All of that said, I adore my kids. (They tolerate me.) 19 or 39, there are people who make very good parents, and ones that don't. If you enjoy watching another human being grow and develop...it's for you.
If you want love...get a dog.
Taking care of kids is the most difficult job in the world. They don’t care if you have a migraine or spent the night vomiting.
It’s really true what that say about getting a dog. Your pets will give that unconditional love you will never find with a human. Not unless you are extremely lucky.
Go spend a few hours hanging out at the park or a zoo and watch the kids. Just get an idea of what they can be like.
Whatever decision you may come up to, I pray that it will give you peace, please keep us posted. Thank you for sharing. God bless.
