Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I was reading someones journal entries, and i wrote them a little note, lol, ok a big note. I put alot into it, and i thought if there was anyone else here who was stuck in there feelings of depression for a long long time, that they might get some benefit out of readint it too, so here it goes...
I read some of your journal entries. i empathize with what you have gone through. that must have been horrible... it is sad people have to endure these terrible things. If part of you wants to get better, i have a few ideas for you. But if you dont want to get better, then dont read this, it wont work.
The feeling i get from reading your journals is that it seems like you might be a little stuck. sometimes we can get stuck in a rut, and as much as part of us wants out, there is a part of us that is comfortable there. its familiar. i know it sounds crazy but i think it is true for alot of people. some people dont want to pull themselves out, or are too affraid to try. i know, i was. But if we DO want to get out of that rut, then we have to change our perspective on how we lok at things...
People have issues, we all have issues, you, me your parents, your brother. we all have our issues and we have all let others down as a result, in one way or another. sometimes it is easier to point the finger at someone else (such as our family and all the wrongs they have done), then it is to look at ourselves, and how we have fucked up, how we have not been there for others, like possibly not being there 100% for our kids. If you have been depressed and suicidal for such a large part of your life, then think about it, that must have some sort of effect on your kids, if you are going to be honest with yourself. and i am sure ther are other ways that you have not been there or even hurt others as a result of your issues. the key to changing our perspective is to change how we are feeling sorry for ourselves. Today i realize that not only have others let me down, but that I have let others down as well. I need to accept this fact, and when i do i can begin to process the feelings, and move on. You arent processing the feelings, when you are stuck in them. You are holding onto the resentments you have towards your family by having these expectations of the way you think your family should have acted, instead of accepting them for who they are, human beings who have issues, just like you. After we accpet them for who they are and not expect them to act a certain way, we can begin to let go of all the hurt and pain. Underneath the resentments and anger are other feelings we need to process, vulnerable feelings of hurt, abandonement, rejections, etc. once we process those feelings, then we can move on with our lives.
I sincerly hope you got something out of all this. i hope it didnt piss you off too much. dont delete it right away, take some time to think about what i said, and come back to it later. i am sure you will start to see things in a new light. If you are able to do this, you will have a whole new world open up to you, one that you never could have imagined. i never thought i could ever be happy. i thought happiness was only for other people, that somehow i was too defective to ever find any sort of happiness, but i did find it, after 30 years of sadness/depression/suiciadl ideation, i did finally find it, by changing my erspective on things, and you can too!

So really it's not the people around her (in her view) It's that she doesn't know how to be "normal" if you will. She can't go up to the register and ask for ketchup. She's afraid and doesn't knwo why. She just..can't. She wants to but..
:/ However I do agree with philomena too.
Were all trying to change..its just not easy. we need help... and alot of us lack support and understnading.
Hope I don't sound mean because you had some good stuff in there. We took a habit changeing class ...we made little progress.
