since im a chronic pain sufferer I was wondering maybe this med can kill 2 birds with one stone? any suggestions?

Sorry I have no experience with it You might look it up on google and read up on it. The best person seriously to ask would be a pharmacist They can usually tell you more about the drugs you are taking than your doctor

Look up the word pain in the dictionary and youll find the word Richard as one of the definitions. Anyway to http://www.usa.gov/ . I think there really are some good folks in the government. They must keep low profile. Go down the list to health ,nutrition, and prescription drugs. You will find more than you would expect.

A very, very long time ago I took the drug. Being I have a very severe sleep disorder too, the drug was so wonderful for me. Now every time I hint to a doctor they give me that lookAre you a druggie looking to hustle me? I have a new Internist Doc. Maybe I will give him a try. He seems to really listen to me.

Good luck in getting a prescription for them.

I have an ongoing prescription for Elavil because for a number of years I have had major TMJ issues (Major pain in the jaw area....) My dose is low, ie I am told to take 10 to 20 mg's daily. Once I am on it for two to three weeks it does seem to relax my TMJ pain somewhat but for me the big downside is that it causes me *massive* weight gain in a very short space of time, it seems to interfere with my blood sugar levels somehow (not quite sure why) as I often feel dizzy, 'spaced out' and feel as if I am going to faint and then always need to keep something to eat near me to stop me from passing out.
This *only* happens when using the Elavil. Once I am off it, within a few days those symptoms disappear.
I think perhaps give it a try and see if and what side effects it causes and if it helps to relieve the pain issues you have....
You can always stop taking it if it does not work out for you....
Re the insomnia bit? I know some people find it helps them with insomnia but for me - I am a chronic insomniac, not 10, 20, 30 or 40 mg's per night help me sleep but then that's just me.
Just one last thing..... though I am a depressive person, it does *nothing* to help me in that dept and if I am on it too long, I become so 'flat* emotionally that often before my pain issues are under control, I take myself off it when it pulls me down too much psychologically.
