Has anyone been hospitalized for their depression? Receiving inpatient therapy, I mean...
I went to the ER to get meds which took 5 hours and the only reason they didn't keep me is cuz my husband said he would stay home w/me to watch me to make sure I didn't hurt/kill myself.
I NEVER want to go back to the mental ER. That place was HORRIBLE!!! But I'm wondering if the inpatient care provides better treatment of patients.
Sometimes I think I need to go for a week just to get away from the life and focus on recovery, but I also have other illnesses/diseases (physical) which require daily meds and a weekly injection. I also have a problem w/using the bathroom every 2 hours, sitting or standing for long periods of time, etc.
Do they usually "confine" you and limit your bathroom access, meds access (except the ones they give you) and ability to get up and move around or lay down when needed?????
Any info would be helpful. I know that each facility is different, just looking for an overall.

There are SPAS and therapeutic MASSAGE clinics that might do a whole lot better for you and are a whole lot cheaper than a mental health ER. If you can get used to and enjoy the feel of a stranger's hands touching you, I think you'll find a nice deep-tissue massage very soothing.
For me, other than being away from having to deal with life, it didn't seem to do a whole lot for me. My meds ended up being changed when I went back to my regular doctor, and whatever happened in the group therapy sure didn't make an impact on my life.
My suggestion is to a LOT of research to see what's available - how long they suggest you'd want to be there, exactly what happens, how often you see a doctor, therapy, etc. I would think having that knowledge would help you make a wise decision and know what to expect if you did choose to go for treatment. Blessings!
But this was in the UK and the hospital was brand new with a good feel to it although I was very scared to begin with.
They just want to medicate you and turn you lose.
I was locked up twice. The second time voluntarily. The average stay is 3-4 days. In other the words, the horror stories you hear about being in a padded cell for a few years couldn't be further from the truth.
I had a bit of a scare not long ago. I was afraid I'd have to go away again, but my doctor's appointment went awesome! If things will go OK for me, your chances are exponential, man. :)
