Sorry ... too quick with a reply. Still, .. these questions can only be answered by a doctor .... the cost of which is a different issue.

I suggest you save up the money ... or ... find a different doctor.

I think this is somthing you need to stay on top of ...I think you schould save and see your doctor ..or a nother one ...when we don't look after our depreshion and it just gets worse ..the longer we don't deal with it the harder it will be to deal with it later on ......depreshion is depreshion it doesent care if everything in your life seames to be going better ....even good stress ....if you have depreshion ..can ...make it harder ..........I will keep you in my prayers ...take care ..God bless

Definitely keep to what your prescribing doctor has put you on and at the correct dosage. Perhaps in the meantime you can just practice on some breathing techniques and other calming methods. It could just be a hiccup and trying to trade any negative thoughts for brighter moments or memories would help. I know we can really only offer support and encouragement. Wow, what kind of insurance do you have? 180. after insurance. You know there are free clinics and programs that will help you with the cost of your medication. Either for free of sliding scale. I had to go to a free mental health facility for a long time. I was unemployed and waiting on my Disability hearing. Wilburton actually caused you to lose weight? Hell, mine all made me gain weight. A lot of weight. I am losing it now but maybe I need to talk to my doc about that medication.

I am glad that medication worked for you and that you are doing better. Are you going to a medical doctor or a psychologist? Medical doctors can prescribe medication too. I am using a medical doctor right now because I am in between psychiatrist. My retired. Would a regular doctor be cheaper for you to go to for your medication? I told mine the truth. Hey, I don't have a psy and I need you to write my meds until I get one. She does. I am on Medicare and a lot of psy won't take it. So, it has been hard finding one.

I'm going to a primary family physician. If it was my own insurance, I'd probably opt for better coverage but I'm on my dad's until I find a job that offers benefits (I'm a fairly recent college grad). The medication is actually very cheap. The insurance covers a huge chunk of that. I just think it's a bit much to even save up to pay $180 just to go to the doctors office for 10 minutes to ask her to up my dosage.

I agree with you. I still can't get over that co pay. Do you have refills on your current medication? I hope so. Sometimes they will refill depression meds over the phone at no cost. I am sure they won't up the dosage but at least you will have something until you can afford a doctor.

It seems outrageous to me ... and I am puzzled by it. There is something wrong with that picture.

MAYBE .... just maybe ... you are just at the right criteria with your current dosage. Doctor does not believe a dosage adjustment is warranted. In order to be certain, you must take an evaluation study which they have no problem with ... but would require a (more than 10-minute) appointment visit. Maybe?

Frankly, I think your Doctor's view is that an adjustment is not (medically) appropriate at this time.

I haven't even spoken to my doctor about this. The nurse on the phone told me I'd have to come in for that. So I don't understand why you say my "Doctor does not believe a dosage adjustment is warranted". I had to take the surveys the last 2 times and they only took 2 mins to fill out, then I talked to my doc for a very short amount of time after that. 10 mins tops for the appointments.

They'll refill over the phone, just not change the dosage.

Anyway, I wrote this post to see if anyone else is on Wellbutrin and if the wear-off is common.

150 mg is a pretty low dose of Wellbutrin. I take 300 mg of the XL once a day which works better for me than the SR version , which you take twice a day. Some people take as much as 450 mg , although 300 mg is the
standard dose. Ive been on Wellbutrin for 4 or 5 years and its still working .

The one other thing I should mention about Wellbutrin is that some of the generics have been found to not work as well as the brand name.
There was even a class action law suit against one of the manufactures .You can google generic Wellbutrin and maybe find the generics that do work well. I get the brand name manufactured by Valient Pharmaceticals from Canada Drugs. I pay $189 for 90 tablets .
I was nervous about using a non US pharmacy but decided to try it because my insurance would only pay for the generic..my co-payment for name brand was over $300 for only 30 tablets.I have been using Canada Drugs for over 2 years with never a problem.
