Yahoo. My stupid neighborhood just became the most murderous neighborhood in all of Baltimore for this year. 4 murders in 30 days.
Last night, a bunch of fireworks started going off for a good 15 minutes. I hope there was an Earth Day celebration that I didn't know about. I understand that my neighborhood is full of stupid kids that love to light fireworks for no reason, but fireworks are often used by gangs as a deterrent to gunfire.
Pardon my language, but the stupid fucking cops around here don't do shit. The only time I ever see a cop is dining inside a restaurant. How about we patrol the streets for once? If you can't even stop fireworks, how the hell can you prevent a crime?

My mum has it worse tho. She's got a lovely little house with 2 dogs and a veggie garden. And we have to slump down into the couch when we watch movies because of the gunfire outside some nights. Sigh.
As long as I don't travel two far in one direction, I am for the most part OK.
The scary thing is that these murders are taking place closer and closer to my home, so yes, it is a BIG goal to move, but we haven't got the money.
Last weekend, there was a murder only three blocks away!
I tend to stay indoors, and my list of places to go is getting shorter and shorter.
When we have kids, I defiantly don't want them growing up around here.

What I have noticed is that the criminals from the more interesting neighborhoods are being drawn to the richer neighborhoods to commit burglaries and muggings. Since the good and bad neighborhoods are back to back, crime just slowly radiates more deeply into what was once a perfectly safe area.
All it would take is some cops patrolling the area, but our mayor has cut funding to the police drastically. In Baltimore, the one place where it is needed the most.
Building yuppie condo's in Canton is apparently much more important and worthy of tax payers dollars.
Phoenix has definite good and bad neighborhoods...EXCEPT when it strays out of it's neighborhood!
Just goes to show, you never know.
The whole country is looking at Phoenix right now to see if the new immigration law gets signed.....there are media vans lining the streets....
