Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

best wishes!
Believe me when I tell you I understand. I've struggled with self-harm for most of my life.. it's a hard habit to break but you have to break it.
What I found is that the more I cut, the more I hated myself and the more I wanted to hurt myself. Seeing the marks and the scars made me angry with myself and made me want to hurt myself more... and the cycle just kept going and going. I made the decision to quit cutting when I was 21 but slipped up many, many times. The last time I cut was about a year ago this time, but before that it had been about 6 months and before that a year... I'm confident that I've beaten this thing... but I really don't know. When I get really low I can't help but think about cutting and it takes everything I have to keep myself from doing it. But every time I make it out of a dark place with no new scars on my arms I feel an overwhelming pride.... much nicer than the overwhelming guilt and self-hatred that I feel when I cut.
