Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I struggle quite often with feelings of hopelessness and sadness. I only really have an online and my boyfriend for support. I'm not close with my family and my mother died two years ago.
I had jobs for a short time but was let go from all of them. I'm having a hard time finding a job. My boyfriend works at night so he sleeps during the day.
I never finished my degree and my student loan is in collections. I can't afford to go back and can't get another loan. Not much hope with schooling ever happening again.
I'm divorced from my son's father. My son lives with his father in the US while I'm in Canada. I've seen him once for a week when he was six years old. He's 10 now and it will turn 11 this year. It's hard not being able to see him! We can't afford to have him up. :(
I have asthma which is made worse by the place where I'm living. I also have other health issues which are being monitored with routine blood work. We're going to move if we can save up enough and can find a decent place.
Sorry, for being so long winded. I just wanted to post an introduction to my background as a point of reference to anyone reading my posts on this board.
I'm a very sensitive and quiet person. I take things to heart rather easily and tend to shut down emotionally when I'm hurting. Sometimes I talk about what's upsetting me which helps. I'm very quiet and have a hard time meeting people because of social anxiety. Honestly, I just feel like I'm interesting enough for people to want to get to know me. I try not to look forward to anything that way I won't get disappointed. I feel like everything in my life is out of my control. There seems to be no point to anything. I just exist, that's it.

I am glad you found us. I am a sensitive and emotional person as well, so i can understand we feel things more deeply than we probably should.

I am glad I found this site too. Sometimes I wish that I didn't feel anything at all that I was numb. Numbing myself is one of my defense mechanisms. My boyfriend is upset with me and he never tells me why. He just gets quiet and ignores me. I immediately start trying to figure out what I did wrong then I get angry. Later on I get sad and do everything I can not to rock the boat. I just want to fade into the background. I grew up around alcoholics and never knew what they were going to do. I was in foster care for three years. I grew up always being on edge, always worrying about what was going to happen when my mother's boyfriend would come home drunk. I've never left that hypervigilance behind.

Welcome! I use to be very the same way. I got my feelings hurt very easily as well. I am now on so much meds that I don't feel much anymore. I would rather have my feelings back even if it meant I would cry. I haven't cried in yrs.
