Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

If I may, why not look at this in a different dimension?
You are growing up. You are developing your own sense of self. You may be feeling your own space in this world and realizing you are not so much an outsider as an individual. See we all are connected, yes, but that connection is from within our individual space. You are feeling your own space. Now the task is, what are you going to do with your space, your place in this world. We are all connected and alone at the same time, that's why we have eyes, ears, hands and mouths, to connect with those around us.
As for your dad, he is just afraid, give him time, letting go is hard on parents. My kids and I lost our mom/wife so I have to be careful not to hold on to my kids too tightly. Honestly, all a dad wants is for our children to be safe. We just don't always do so well at communicating that.
You are unique and have something to offer the world that no one else can, it may not be obvious and it may not be exactly what you want it to be but it is a fact nonetheless.
First of all, I want to say that I am sorry for your loss. I have a friend who just recently lost her mother and she felt the exact same thing like you do. However, she found some peace after learning to open up about her problems and getting the help that she needed. You don't have to go through this alone, there are people who are willing to take their time in helping you.
Also, you are very young, so don't let the problems stop you from living the awesome life that is in store for you. =) I could promise you that life will feel unfortunate, but it will get better in time. And before you know it, you are celebrating your 50th birthday with all of your loved ones surrounded. Don't be discourage. You have what it takes to make it in this world and you're going to meet people who will end up being your favorite people.
One thing that I have always told myself and everyone else is that everything happens for a reason. We just couldn't see what's behind close door, so the unknown is what we all have to remind ourselves each day. Just because we cannot see the reason, it does not mean that there is no purpose to it. This is why we do not want to take people for granted, because someday, the person we love will be gone. I have learn to accept that death is part of life. It isn't easy to watch the one you love passed away, but life is life. It's never fair and when there is heaven, there is hell. And I've learned that when you lose someone, you would never learn to accept that he or she is gone. So there is no need for the acceptance, instead give yourself a chance to learn to live with life.
About your father, if he doesn't want you, then somebody else will. To be specific, someone will come into your life and treat you the way you should be treated. There could be parents who want to adopt you and provide you the love, support, and caring that you truly deserve. If not, someone someday will enter your life and be the father figure to you. No matter what age you are in, that person, it could be your boss, manager, teacher, a man at the store who was once a stranger, could end up being the father figure to you. You're a beautiful person, so don't settle for less. Plus, you're way too young to be stressing. Go out and have an awesome day!
And an outsider? Child, you are a phenomenal outsider! You don't need no light to shine, you are already glowing in that spotlight. Let me tell you one thing about my young days, I was a loner and didn't have much friends. I mean I did have friends a little here and there, but I chose to stay alone at lunch time and sometime life chose it for me. I want you to know that there is no shame in feeling like an outsider. Being different is what make you so unique and that kind of light stands out whether you want it to be or not. I know being an outsider makes you feel different from everyone and you would think that it is a bad thing, but no, it isn't. It's wonderful to be different.
People will treat you like it is so wrong to be yourself, but don't you dare believe in those lies. No one knows you like you know yourself. No one fight the demons you've fought; no one hear the silence that you've heard, so don't let anyone tear you down. They're just jealous of your uniqueness and how much of a great character you are. An outsider equals an extraordinary person that you are! So own it! ^_^
Trust me, I know this much, because I've been there. I have parents who treat me that way, making me feel like being so different is so bad. They treat me mostly so unfair and I've always got the disappointment. It feels like in their eyes, they would never see the good in me and I've always had to try so hard to be good enough. However, don't give your father the upper hand, instead you should continue to be yourself and be the bigger and better person. One thing that I've always told my mom whenever my father would yell at me is that my heart may be hurt, but it is his heart that is being wounded, because he is the one who's wasting his breath yelling instead of having a calm communication. So whenever he yells at you, don't give him that upper hand, instead, don't allow it to affect you.
Not an easy task, I know, but you'll get there. Someday in life, you will grow out of this and the one who hurt you, they will live with guilt for the rest of their life. Although it feels like your life is ending, it is only a beginning. You will go through more agony and pains, but happiness and joy would come along with it. It's very worth it, so I am hoping that you won't give up. Stay strong and take good care of yourself. =)
