Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

I posted this as reply on another site with reguards to a recent suicide of an old highschool friend.
While I have never forgotten what happened that day I dont think I think about the meaning of it all near enough.
To this day I dont know why it happened or why I have seemly been "saved" multiple times in my life. I have to wonder if there is some plan, or some reason why I am still here. Maybe this is not that uncomomon, I dont know, but after multiple times of surviving things that should have killed me I have to wonder....
This is just one time out of many that I was on the edge but suvived. I am not just counting attempts either, I am talking about life events that should of, by all reason ended me!
This is just one time.
Years back I walked out into the woods with my 44 mag on my side. I did not intend on coming back home that day. I never even hinted to the ones that loved me that it was time. That day I just decided enough was enough! I will always remember that day. How could I not!
I was commit to ending the pain that day, but someone just happened along, at just the right time, in the middle of nowhere, to stop me from going through with it. That person and his little beagle interrupted my plans to end it all. It was just enough for me to forget my plans of killing myself and to walk back home alive instead.
It was an older guy from the tiny town I live in. He was just out for a simple walk with his beagle. I was setting up on a hillside overlooking the trail. The little beagle saw me, or smelled me one, and came up the hill to where I was setting. If he did not have that dog with him, I would of just let him walk right by. I doubt he would of ever seen me setting up there on that hill.
So the little dog came up to where I was setting and I then came down the hill with the dog in tow. I then started to talk with the guy.
It was strange too because I knew this man for years. I went to school with one of his kids, but I did not even recognize him!
I guess I was just so distraught and my mind was not working right. To this day I feel bad for asking his name! I felt so stupid for asking who he was! He knew who I was for sure and I am sure he was questioning why I did not know him. I wonder to this day what he was thinking when I asked him who he was.
He is long gone now and I never did tell him why I was so confused that day, nor did I ever tell him that he saved my life that day!

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

Hope the dog days of summer aren't getting you down!
