We had our insurance plan changed over to a new plan last month. I only discovered this by accident as I use the Aetna website to manage bills and noticed that my policy was switching to a new one. I then asked my boss to send me an information packet about the new policy which I never received. He then had the managers claim that the policy did not change, we were just receiving new cards as the policy was renewed yearly. I talked to customer service at Aetna and this is a complete lie. Our deductable doubled as well as numerous other changes.
I called Aetna today to request that an information packet be mailed to me. The representative claimed that such information can only be provided to me by my employer. When I stated that my employer will not give me this info, she just repeated herself.
Obviously, I have every right to know what I am paying for and what my medical coverage pays for. What steps do I take to get this information and whom can I file a complaint with if I do not get this info?
I swear to God I am going to end up in a mental ward if I spend so much as another week in this dump.

Maybe contact the HR department? See if they have the information

Now for some good news.
I have a coworker who just recently got fed up and got the union involved. She not only got angry that she couldn't get any info from Aetna or their website, but she has a husband with diabetes whom she tried to get added to the plan. The owner claimed that it would cost him 300 something dollars to get added. She looked into it and there is no way it cost that much. She believes that he was trying to pocket part of the money himself. Wouldn't shock me at all.
We also have a new enployee who asked about our insurance plan. They offered her three separate plans. Funny. We weren't offered a choise.
I am seriously starting to think that my boss switched me to a plan with a higher deductable because of my surgery and medical bills. Anyway, the union has been informed and he claims an agent is going to fax him some information on the policy to give to us. A fax? Sounds fishy.
Anyway, I am giving him one week to give me information. If he doesn't, I am going to send an annonymous letter to the insurance comissioner if that is possible. If I can not do it anonymously, I will go to the union myself.
Anyway, I talked with hubby about when the heck I can quit and he said in about two months. I said hell no.
A new policy has just started which forbids us from asking off on Saturdays, which are the only days that my husband and I can get things done together such as getting a car loan, etc. I am at my wits end. Work load is being doubled, and I still have never received a raise, bonus, pat on the back followed by a good job, NOTHING! Just a worse insurance policy.
