Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

As I sit here reading the posts of others, I am so saddened, weeping uncontrollably. My pain is shared with so many others and I think I forgot I'm not the only one suffering with such pain from depression, job loss, financial issues, foreclosure and relationship failures.
I continue to spiral downward and am angry that I have been so betrayed by employers, friends, and family. I've lost faith in people and I've lost my spiritual faith. I can't belive how quickly I have lost almost everything that I have worked hard for my whole life. I keep trying to be productive, but I feel paralyzed in fear.
I'm sick of people telling me that, "things can get worse". I've survived cancer.... much easier than what I've been dealt with this year. And all this time, I have always been there to support these same people. I've been drinking everyday to try and kill the pain... who am I kidding? I try and start each day with a plan, but am paralyzed with fear of failing again.
Just trying to make it through tonight without alcohol.

I hope tonight is going well for you without the alcohol. It sounds like you've been through a lot in you life. Its hard when its not a foreign object that you have to fight, but yourself... Your own emotions. I find that depression is like a vacuum it comes and sucks all the good out leaving a shell of a person behind. You are not alone... Your situation may be unique but your feelings aren't. I'm here if you want to talk to someone.

I just returned home after 7 days of hospitalization. I feel 1000 times better. I too had been suffering with the dibiltating demons of depression. Im so sorry you lost so much, it saddens me more so to hear you say you have lost your faith. "When the material things of this world are lost, and the lies of the world are revealed, one truth holds true. God will never leave you". As I write this I pray you can muster the spiritual strength to focus on God for hw will surely reward you for your faith (even faith the size of a mustard seed). God bless you and please consider a few days in the hospital.

Hi, I'm sorry that you feel so bad. How did the no alcohol night go? I find that alcohol just makes me feel worse although at the time you just want to dull the pain. Hope you're feeling a little better today.

3am... not sleeping but no alcohol. Guess I've gotten so used to using the booze to get to sleep. Weird, but I'm sort of afraid to turn off the television because I'll have to leave the safety of fantasy and let the reality thoughts race through my head. Those thoughts are surely skewed at this time of the morning. :(
