i find distraction to be a good tool to use... just make sure you dont distract away from too much... physical activity is another good one, if you can... i try to walk a lot whenever i can
theres a few groups here about being a caretaker, if you are... and 'caring for aging parents' too... look around, youd be surprised how much support there is around here

The considered connecting with even close relatives and companions can appear to be overpowering. You may feel embarrassed, excessively depleted, making it impossible to talk, or liable for ignoring the relationship. Advise yourself that this is the discouragement talking. Connecting is not an indication of shortcoming and it won't mean you're a weight to others. Your friends and family think about you and need to offer assistance. Also, recall that, its never past the point where it is possible to assemble new companionships and enhance your bolster system
