Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.

Hi, I don't post much in this group. I'm much more active in the anxiety group, because it seemed like anxiety was my chief problem for the past year. However, my anxiety is not as much of a problem for me since I've been taking Lexapro, using CBT, yoga, and meditation.
I still feel anxious, but I also feel depressed now. I have so many days where I feel stressed and anxious, but also deflated, unmotivated, scattered and disorganized and sad.
I am in a second marriage and have two stepkids. Their mom has created a lot of drama and works hard at alienating and pulling the kids from their dad and me. On top of that, we have major bills, some debt, a broken down car that my husband is avoiding dealing with. We spend all our money trying to make sure that my husband sees his kids. This requires expensive travel back and forth from the states for us and the kids (we live in germany. My husband is in the air force and is stationed here). We had to go back at the beginning of the summer and now we're going back again. This after spending $3K on getting them out here for Christmas. The jetlag alone throws me out of whack for weeks, on top of all the stress of flying, driving, and being around family.
In the meantime, I wonder if I'll ever experience having kids myself. My husband and I plan to, but he has to get a v reversal and he is on a long waiting list. He is so wrapped up in his kids and trying to see them, that we hardly ever talk about having kids of our own. I feel sad and hopeless about this.
Sorry to make this so long. Guess I'm just looking for some support and any advice if you have it.

Sorry to hear about your stress. I would say to try to talk to your husband about your feelings and see where he is at in terms of working on having kids of your own.

You seem to have several incredibly stressful situations in your life right now. I am the mother of two kids and when my ex and I split after 16 years it was total turmoil. My daughter wanted to be with her dad because she understood how fragile he was and at the time she was angry with me, long story short...being the parent to a child who you share custody with is hard. My ex made it so unnecessarily difficult because he was angry with me...our children became the new battle ground. I imagine your husband is heartbroken and angry, two emotions that are really daunting. I am not sure what to say or offer in the way of support, but just know that you have support here. Be well!

No wonder you are depressed. Your life is all about everyone else and their wants and needs at the moment. What do you do to nurture yourself? Are any of your needs being met?

Thanks for your comments. I have a hard taking care of myself. I'm usually way too worried about making other people happy but it something I'm working on. After my stepson goes home, I hope my husband and I can communicate about this stuff. He's very difficult to talk to though, especially if he feels like I'm attacking him.
