hello i have just joined this group and im not sure what to say.my story is very very long. if anyone is interested i can share . but i do feel like i have sunk into a huge massive pit of depression and i am not sure how in the heck to get out. recently had a revelation of how i got into this pit now i just have to get out.i miss the peaceful contentment i had with my life about a year and half ago. now i am so numb i feel almost nothing and anger comes so easily more than any other emotion. when emotion does arise which is not often.i fear perhaps i may seriously and literally loose my mind.how does one climb out of the dark?

That could be me wring what you just did. Did the holidays make things worse for you? I suffer Major Depression, PTSD(childhood trauma) and Dissociation. I have 3 grown children and have never recovered them growing and leaving home. They were my life. Now I have no path in life. It is so hard to craw out of the whole of depression. Do you take any medication?

my doctor thinks that with everything that has happened how i feel is normal and i just need to adjust and i will be alright again. so no medication.i really cant say if the holidays made it worse. i have almost no emotion over anything. i dont think i was ever "happy" but i was once content with my life and now. idk. you were kind to me shar1953 so here so here is the cliffs notes version of my life.9years old my birth father turned me into drug addict so would be more co operative to whatever sick games he wished to play. mother knew of these things and told me was my fault so literally was physically and mentaly abusive to me.. parents divorced around 12years of age. lived with mother for short while until she couldnt handle my wild ways and shipped me off to father. got pregnant at 17. father kicked me out. literaly dropped me off in mall parking lot with all my things knowing full well i had nowhere else to go. life until 20 was a complete blur of sex and drugs and abusive relationships.21 enetered rehab. been clean since.lost my first born to childrens aid due to abusive partner. my 2nd born, my son, wanted better. went to therapy worked out childhood shit.disocevered most of my life was fighting the fact was gay.maintained contact with mother and stepfather as felt was right thing to do. my son has a ton of issues. teachers friends and family all see it. doctors say he is fine as he charms the pants off them and no one is listening to me. 4 years ago found my soul mate.love her with all my heart. year and half ago son decided he didnt want to live at home anymore. said life was too hard at home. moved in with my mother and stepfather who just last month have literally abandoned him. my wife in the last 2 years has taken ill and i am more of a caregiver than a wife these days.my son doesnt talk to me at all. i have completely stopped talking to my mother and stepfather for year and a half. didnt want negative crap and drama, have no friends. literally. had no time for them between work and my wife.so they all left. have physical health issues of my own and may not even b able to work much longer.my 37th b day is jan 20th and all i can think of is im not even 40 yet ... what else? so yeah thats the short story.and aparently im supposed to sort this all out and i will b fine.

Annewinnie - that is a sad story. I am sorry all these things happened in your life. I pray that coming in here and talking to others will give support to both you and me.
