Depression Support Group
Depression is a real and debilitating condition that is often misunderstood by family and friends. Its meaning can range from a prolonged period of sadness to an actual mental illness with specific symptoms. Find and share experiences with others who are going through the same struggles.
As a former nurse I will confirm that chronic illness DOES cause depression and it is the number one thing we asses for, for those with chronic illness.
As someone who suffers from lifelong treatment resistant depression I know exactly how you feel. You described it perfectly as you said those huge claws are trying to drag you back under.
What I wonder is, are you on any anti-depressants? With chronic illness, I respectfully recommend that you should be. Depression is so prevalent with chronic illness that it should be prescribed more regularly. Unfortunately, most doctors are only the physical illness and overlook the mental illness that comes with it.
I do hope that your therapist is monitoring and/or recommending meds since this is something that you cant usually do on your own.
Depression is devastating and I do hope you get the treatment for it you so deserve!

Meds scare me. I have known so many people who have had such bad experiences with them. But I also know many who swear by them!
What does your therapist think?
Guide me through this darkness, Lord. Hover over me especially when I cannot seem to hold on for another moment. Flood me with the graces of hope and fortitude. Send your angels to watch over me as I sleep through the night. Remind me during the day that from the small dark cocoon, I will emerge a butterfly.
